Shipping is one of the biggest reasons people hesitate before they buy online. They want to know three things: how much it costs, how long it takes and what happens if something goes wrong. When those answers are missing or vague, many shoppers simply leave. If you want to sell online with confidence, clear shipping is as important as good photos and fair prices.

MultiVendor gives every seller a shipping profile that answers those questions on the product page itself. You set where you ship, how you charge, which carrier you use, how long you need to prepare an order and how long delivery usually takes. You can offer free shipping over an amount you choose, local pickup with your own instructions and a returns policy in your own words. Buyers see all of it before they decide.

It works the same whether you open an online store of your own or start a marketplace with many sellers: each seller ships from their own location, on their own terms, and buyers always see the right details for the product in front of them. Tracking links for USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL work without any carrier account. Live carrier rates and printable shipping labels through one connected shipping service are coming soon.

How it works

  1. 1

Set your origin and processing time

Enter the postal code you ship from and how many days you need to prepare an order, as a minimum and maximum. This is the honest starting point for every delivery estimate.

  2. 2

    Create your shipping zones

Add zones for domestic shipping, international shipping or a list of specific countries. Give each zone a method name, a carrier and a delivery estimate in days.

  3. 3

    Choose how you charge

Use a flat rate, free shipping or a per-kg rate for each zone. Add a free-shipping threshold so orders over a certain amount ship free, and turn on local pickup if buyers can collect in person.

  4. 4

    Publish and share tracking

Your shipping details and returns policy appear on your product pages. When you ship, share a tracking link for USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL so your buyer can follow the parcel.

Everything included

Shipping zones: decide where you ship

Available

A shipping zone is a group of destinations that share the same method, price and delivery time. Start simple with one domestic zone, then add an international zone or a zone for specific countries when you are ready. Because zones are part of each seller's profile, a marketplace can have sellers in different countries, each shipping on their own terms.

  • Domestic zone for orders inside your own country
  • International zone for the rest of the world
  • Zones for a list of specific countries you choose
  • A method name for each zone, such as "Standard" or "Express"
  • A carrier for each zone: any, USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL
  • Your own delivery estimate per zone, as minimum and maximum days

Shipping rates: flat, free or per kg

Available

Every zone has its own pricing type, so you can charge exactly the way that fits your products. A flat rate is easy for buyers to understand. Free shipping removes a common reason to abandon a purchase. A per-kg rate keeps heavy items fair to ship without overcharging for light ones.

  • Flat rate: one simple price per order in that zone
  • Free shipping: no shipping charge at all in that zone
  • Per kg: price based on the weight of what you send
  • Free shipping over an amount you choose, to encourage bigger orders
  • Different pricing per zone, for example free domestic and flat international
  • You set every price yourself, based on your real costs

Processing times and delivery estimates

Available

Buyers care about when the parcel arrives, not just when it leaves. MultiVendor separates the two: your processing time is how long you need to prepare and hand over an order, and your delivery estimate is how long the carrier usually takes. Showing both as honest ranges sets clear expectations and reduces "where is my order?" messages.

  • Processing time as a minimum and maximum number of days
  • Delivery estimate per zone as a minimum and maximum number of days
  • Longer processing times for made-to-order or handmade items
  • Ranges rather than promises, so you can keep your word

Local pickup and returns policy

Available

Not every order needs a courier. If buyers can collect from your shop, studio, market stall or warehouse, turn on local pickup and add a note with instructions such as opening hours or where to go. Your returns policy sits right alongside your shipping details, written in your own words, so buyers know what happens if an item isn't right.

  • Local pickup option with your own pickup note
  • Great for local customers, large items and fragile goods
  • Returns policy shown before buying
  • Clear policies build trust with first-time buyers

What buyers see on the product page

Available

Shipping information appears on the product page before anyone buys, so there are no surprises later. Buyers can see where the item ships from, which destinations you cover, what it costs, how long it should take, whether pickup is available and what your returns policy says. In a marketplace, each product shows the shipping details of the seller who listed it.

  • Shipping cost by zone and any free-shipping threshold
  • Processing time and delivery estimate
  • Carrier and method name
  • Local pickup availability and instructions
  • The seller's returns policy
  • Online checkout is coming soon; today buyers can send the seller an inquiry from the listing

Carrier tracking for USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL

Available

Once an order is on its way, a tracking link is the best reassurance you can give. MultiVendor builds tracking links for USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL from the tracking number, and you don't need a carrier account to use them. Buyers click once and see the carrier's own tracking page.

  • Tracking links for USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL
  • No carrier account or integration needed
  • Buyers follow their parcel on the carrier's own site
  • Fewer delivery questions for you to answer

How shipping works when you sell merchandise, digital downloads, online courses or online events.

Merchandise

Merchandise is where shipping matters most. Set zones, rates and processing times that match your products, use per-kg pricing for heavier items, and offer local pickup for bulky or fragile goods. Handmade and made-to-order sellers can set a longer processing time so buyers know what to expect.

Sell merchandise →

Digital downloads

Digital downloads don't need shipping at all, so buyers never pay for postage or wait for a parcel. Your files stay private, and buyers get private download links as soon as they pay. If you also sell printed versions or physical bundles, list those as merchandise with their own shipping profile.

Sell digital downloads →

Online events

Event registrations don't ship, and online events send the meeting link only to confirmed registrants by email. In-person and hybrid events show the venue and address instead. If you sell event merchandise, such as T-shirts or printed materials, add it as merchandise with its own shipping zones and rates.

Host online events →

Online courses

Courses are delivered online through lessons, so there is nothing to ship. Learners get access to modules and lessons and keep their progress in their library. If you send physical extras, such as a workbook or a starter kit, list them as merchandise and set shipping for them separately.

Get the most out of it

Package for the journey, not the shelf

Use a sturdy box or mailer that fits the item closely, add padding around fragile pieces, and seal it well. Weigh the finished parcel, not just the product, so your per-kg rates and carrier costs line up.

Set expectations you can beat

Give honest ranges for processing and delivery. It is better to promise five to seven days and arrive in four than the other way round. Update your processing time during busy seasons or holidays.

Start international shipping carefully

Begin with a few countries you know you can serve, then expand. Tell buyers in your returns policy or product description that import duties and taxes may apply, and check your carrier's rules for restricted items.

Choose carriers by service, not habit

Compare USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL for the size, weight and destinations you ship most. Look at delivery times, tracking quality and drop-off convenience, and check each carrier's current prices on their own website.
