When you sell online, how you get paid matters as much as what you sell. On many marketplaces, the platform collects the buyer's money first, keeps it in a platform balance, takes its cut and pays you out later on its own schedule. You wait for your own money, and the platform sits between you and your customer.
MultiVendor is built differently. We are software, not a bank or a middleman. Every seller connects their own Stripe or PayPal account, and when a buyer pays, the money goes straight to that seller. MultiVendor never holds, delays or splits your funds, and we never take a commission on the sale. Whether you open a single online store or run a multi-vendor marketplace with many sellers, each seller is paid directly by their own buyers.
Online checkout is built in. Buyers pay for merchandise, digital downloads, course enrollments and event tickets by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the payment goes to the seller's own connected Stripe account. PayPal checkout is being finalized. Each marketplace switches on live payments when its sellers are ready, so this page is honest about what's switched on and what's next.
How it works
- 1
Open your store or marketplace
Sign up with your name and email or Google, choose an online store or your own marketplace, pick your store types and set up your listings. You can design and preview everything as a free draft.
- 2
Each seller connects Stripe or PayPal
Every seller links their own Stripe account in their seller centre (PayPal is coming). On a marketplace, each vendor connects their own account, so there is no shared pot of money to manage.
- 3
Buyers pay the seller directly
At checkout, the buyer's payment goes to the seller's own provider account. MultiVendor is never in the middle of the money, and the card details are handled by Stripe or PayPal.
- 4
Get paid on your provider's schedule
Payouts and disputes are handled in the seller's own Stripe dashboard, and sellers can refund an order from their seller centre. Buyers get a receipt, and digital purchases appear in their downloads straight away.
Everything included
Your account, your money
Vendor-direct payments mean the seller who made the sale is the one who gets paid — directly. There is no platform wallet, no waiting period imposed by MultiVendor and no split of the order total. The relationship between the seller and their payment provider stays theirs, and so does the money.
- Every seller connects their own Stripe or PayPal account
- Buyer payments go straight to the seller who made the sale
- MultiVendor never holds, delays or splits funds
- No commission on any sale, in any department
- Payouts follow the seller's own provider schedule
- Refunds and disputes are handled in the seller's own provider account
Stripe and PayPal: why trusted providers
Stripe and PayPal are well-known payment providers that many buyers already trust. Using them means card details and payment security are handled by specialists. MultiVendor never stores card data. Each provider charges its own standard processing fees, which sellers see in their own Stripe or PayPal dashboard — those fees go to the provider, not to us.
- Card data handled by Stripe or PayPal, never stored by MultiVendor
- Provider processing fees are the provider's own, shown in your own dashboard
- Sellers can choose the provider that suits them
- Familiar checkout experiences for buyers

Alongside paid checkout, buyers can message sellers, enroll in free courses and register for free events — useful for building an audience before you sell.
- Inquiries: buyers message the seller from any listing page, and the inquiry is emailed to the seller
- Free courses: learners can enroll today and their progress is saved
- Free events: attendees can register today, with confirmation and reminder emails
- Automatic waitlist when a free event reaches capacity

Online checkout
Partly availableBuyers pay for merchandise, digital downloads, course enrollments and event tickets directly to the seller's connected Stripe account. Payments are confirmed by Stripe before an order is marked paid, and repeated payment notices never create duplicate orders. PayPal checkout is being finalized.
- Paid orders for physical merchandise, including product options that add to the price
- Digital downloads: buyers get private download links in their receipt and their account
- Paid course enrollments that unlock the course in the buyer's library
- Paid event tickets that confirm the attendee's place
- Refunds from the seller centre; refunded orders lose download access
- PayPal checkout — coming soon
Payments on a multi-vendor marketplace
AvailableIf you start your own marketplace, you don't have to become a payment company. Each approved vendor connects their own payment account and is paid directly by their buyers, so you never collect and redistribute other people's money. You earn by selling store plans and AI coins to your sellers — paid into your own Stripe account.
- No platform balance to reconcile or pay out
- Each vendor's money stays with that vendor
- Vendors handle their own refunds through their own provider
- Monthly store plans and AI coin packs for your sellers, at your prices
Prices, options and clear costs for buyers
Clear pricing helps buyers decide. Sellers set their own prices, and merchandise can show "From $" pricing when options change the price. Options like sizes or colors can add to the price and can be marked sold out. Shipping profiles show shipping costs and delivery estimates on the product page before the buyer commits.
- Seller-set prices in every department
- Options that add to the price, such as larger sizes or premium colors
- Sold-out options clearly marked
- Shipping price, free-shipping thresholds and delivery estimates shown up front
For every type of store
How direct payments works when you sell merchandise, digital downloads, online courses or online events.
Merchandise
Buyers pay for their chosen options and shipping directly to the seller's Stripe account, with prices, options and shipping costs shown on the listing first.
Sell merchandise →Digital downloads
E-books, templates, audio, video and art packs sell with public previews while the main files stay private. Buyers pay the seller directly and get private download links in their receipt and their account.
Sell digital downloads →Online events
Sell tickets to webinars, workshops and in-person events, or run free ones, with confirmation emails, reminders and an automatic waitlist. Ticket money goes directly to the organizer's own payment account.
Host online events →Online courses
Sell paid courses, such as a $99 or $150 course, or offer free ones. Learners' progress is saved in their "My courses" library, and the payment goes straight to the course creator.
Sell online courses →Get the most out of it
Connect Stripe first
Connect your Stripe account in your seller centre before you publish paid listings, and check Stripe's pricing so you know your real cost per order.
Use inquiries to build demand
Every inquiry is a warm lead. Reply quickly from your email and note what buyers ask about — it tells you what to stock and how to describe it.
Start with free courses and events
Use a free intro lesson or a free webinar to grow an audience you can sell paid courses and tickets to.
Make your prices and policies clear
Fill in your shipping profile, returns policy and option prices. Buyers who understand the total cost are more likely to buy.
