The most important check is fit. Measure width, depth and height, allow ventilation space and door swing, and measure the path into your kitchen. Look at capacity, energy rating where available, noise level, whether it needs a water line for an ice maker, and whether it can be installed in a cold garage.
Used and refurbished fridges from independent dealers can be a practical choice when they have been tested and cleaned. Large appliances usually need delivery by the seller or local pickup.
Choosing a refrigerator or freezer
