About 3d models & cad files

3D models and CAD files are the digital starting point for physical things. Hobbyists download printable figurines, organizers and replacement parts for their FDM or resin printers; woodworkers and sign makers buy CNC and laser files; architects, product designers and students use ready-made CAD drawings and models to save drafting time. Every listing here is a file you download, not a finished object.

The category spans mesh formats such as STL, OBJ and 3MF, which most slicers open directly; solid and parametric formats such as STEP, IGES and native CAD files, which can be edited precisely; and 2D vector formats such as DXF, SVG and DWG, used for laser cutters, CNC routers and plotters. Some sellers include several formats in one download, others offer them as separate options.

Choosing well comes down to three things: the format your software or machine accepts, the size and tolerances the design was made for, and the license. A model meant for display may not be engineered for load, and a file licensed for personal use usually can't be printed and sold. Read the description, look at the preview images and message the designer if anything is unclear.

MultiVendor Market does not accept files for firearms, firearm parts or other weapons, and designers should only sell models they created or have the right to sell.

Buying 3D models and CAD files

  • Match the format to your workflow: STL or 3MF for slicers, STEP or IGES if you need to edit geometry, DXF or SVG for laser and CNC.
  • Check the units and intended print or cut size, and whether the model is already oriented, split or supported for printing.
  • Look for notes on printer type (FDM or resin), nozzle size, material thickness or bit diameter the file was tested with.
  • Read the license: personal use lets you make things for yourself; selling printed or cut items usually needs a commercial license.
  • Use the free preview images or sample file to judge detail and wall thickness before you buy.

Questions about 3d models & cad files

What's the difference between STL, 3MF and STEP files?

STL and 3MF are mesh files that slicers read directly for 3D printing; 3MF can also carry color and print settings. STEP is a solid CAD format that keeps precise geometry, so it's the one to choose if you want to modify dimensions in CAD software.

Can I sell the objects I print or cut from these files?

Only if the license allows it. Many designers sell a personal license and a separate commercial license. The terms are shown on each listing; message the seller if your use isn't covered.

When do I get the files?

Digital files are available to download after purchase. Large models are often packaged as a zip archive containing every format and part.

Will a model fit my printer or machine?

Check the stated dimensions against your build volume or bed size. Many printable models can be scaled or split, but mechanical parts with fixed tolerances should be printed at their designed size.
