About magazines

Magazines on MultiVendor Market range from current independent print titles to decades-old back issues. People buy them as birthday-year gifts, for research, for vintage advertising and photography, to complete a collection, or simply to read a specialist hobby title that is hard to find on newsstands.

Vintage magazines are valued by issue date, cover subject and completeness. Missing pages, clipped coupons and detached covers lower their value, while original mailing labels are usually acceptable to collectors. Independent magazines and zines, by contrast, are often bought new directly from their publishers.

Sellers include collectors, used-book dealers, and small publishers selling their own titles in print.

Buying back-issue and vintage magazines

  • Confirm the exact issue date and volume number, especially when buying a magazine as a birthday or anniversary gift.
  • Ask whether the issue is complete, with no clipped coupons, removed pages or missing inserts.
  • Check cover condition — creases, tears and a loose staple are common in older issues.
  • Mailing labels and subscription stickers are normal on vintage copies; the listing should mention them.
  • Magazines bend easily, so look for sellers who ship flat with stiff backing.

Questions about magazines

Can I buy a magazine from the month and year someone was born?

Yes, many sellers list issues by date. Search for the title and year, or message a seller who specializes in vintage magazines to ask about a particular issue.

Are vintage magazines complete?

Not always. Older magazines sometimes have pages, coupons or inserts removed. Ask the seller to confirm completeness before you buy a collectible issue.

Can I buy independent magazines directly from their publishers?

Some independent publishers sell their print issues in their own MultiVendor Market shops. You can see the seller on every listing and message them directly.
