A Lightroom preset is a saved set of editing adjustments — exposure, tone curve, color grading, HSL, grain and more — that you apply to a photo in one click. Photographers sell the looks they've refined on their own work so others can get a consistent style faster, then fine-tune each image.
Presets come in many styles: warm film emulations, clean bright and airy edits for weddings and lifestyle, moody dark tones, black and white, travel and landscape looks, and packs tuned for skin tones in portraits. Most packs are sold for Lightroom Classic and Lightroom desktop as XMP files, and for Lightroom mobile as DNG files you import on your phone.
Presets are a starting point, not magic: results depend on your photo's lighting, white balance and exposure, so expect to adjust. Before-and-after previews on a range of photos — not just one perfect shot — are the most useful way to judge a pack.
What to check before buying Lightroom presets
- Confirm the formats included: XMP for Lightroom Classic and desktop, DNG for Lightroom mobile.
- Look at before-and-after previews across different light — indoor, outdoor, golden hour — not just one hero image.
- Choose presets made for the kind of photos you take; a landscape look may not flatter skin tones.

Questions about lightroom presets
Will a preset make my photos look exactly like the examples?
Not usually. Presets apply the same adjustments to every photo, so differences in lighting and exposure change the result. Expect to tweak exposure and white balance afterwards.
Can I use Lightroom presets on my phone?
Yes, if the pack includes mobile DNG files or you sync desktop presets through your Lightroom account. The listing should say which versions are included.
Can I use presets for client photography?
Most preset licenses allow you to edit client photos but not to resell or share the preset files themselves. Check the license on the listing.
