Notion courses teach you to build your own workspace from flexible building blocks. Beginner lessons cover pages, blocks, headings, toggles, callouts, embeds and the slash command, then how to organize pages into a sidebar structure that does not sprawl. Many learners start with a single use, like meeting notes or a reading list, and expand from there.
Databases are where Notion becomes powerful, and most courses spend real time on them. Expect lessons on properties, table, board, calendar, timeline, gallery and list views, filters, sorts and grouping, linked database views, and templates inside databases. Intermediate courses add relations and rollups to connect databases, such as projects to tasks or clients to invoices, plus formulas for due-date warnings, progress bars and status logic.
Advanced and team courses cover building a company wiki, permissions and sharing, page and database templates, buttons and automations, synced blocks, and integrating with other tools. Personal knowledge management courses apply Notion to methods like a second brain, PARA or a weekly review. Some creators teach Notion's AI features, which depend on your plan.
Courses are independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Notion. The product changes frequently and features vary by plan, so check when a course was updated and which plan it assumes.
Choosing a Notion course
- Check whether features the course relies on, such as automations, certain permissions or AI tools, are available on your plan.
- If you are new, choose a course that builds understanding of databases and relations rather than only handing you a finished template.
- For team use, look for lessons on permissions, wiki structure and keeping a shared workspace tidy as it grows.
- If you want a personal system, pick a course that explains the method behind it, such as PARA or a weekly review, not just the layout.
- See whether templates come with the course and what their license allows, for example personal use only or use with clients.
- Watch the free preview lesson to check the creator explains why a setup works so you can adapt it.
Questions about notion
Should I buy a Notion template or take a course?
A template gives you a working setup quickly. A course teaches you how databases, relations and formulas work so you can change the template or build your own. Many learners do both, starting with a template and using a course to customize it.
Do I need a paid Notion plan to follow along?
Many lessons work on a free personal plan. Some team features, permissions, automations and AI tools depend on your plan. Check what the course description says it requires.
Are relations and rollups hard to learn?
They take some practice, but a good course introduces them with a simple example, such as linking tasks to projects, before building anything complex. Once they click, much of Notion's flexibility opens up.
Is this official Notion training?
No. Courses are made by independent creators and consultants and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Notion. Each course shows the creator behind it.
