Canva templates are designs built in the browser-based design tool and shared as template links. When you buy one, you open the link, make a copy in your own account and edit text, colors, photos and layout without design software skills.
Popular template types include social media post and story sets, carousel templates, presentation decks, lead magnet ebooks and workbooks, media kits, flyers and posters, restaurant menus, event invitations and planner pages. Sellers often design sets in a consistent style so your feed or materials look cohesive.
Check whether the template uses only free elements or includes paid elements that need a paid account, which sizes are included, and the license. A typical license allows you to edit and use the template for your own business but not to resell or share the template link.
Buying Canva templates
- Check whether templates use free elements only or need a paid account for some graphics.
- Confirm the sizes included — square posts, stories, slides or print sizes.
- Look at preview mockups to judge style and variety of layouts.
- Read the license for client work or reselling designs made from the template.
- Download the file with the template link and save it somewhere safe.
Questions about canva templates
How do I use a Canva template I bought?
You download a file containing the template link. Open it while signed in to your account and choose to use or copy the template; your copy is yours to edit.
Do I need a paid account?
Not always. Many templates use only free elements; the listing should say if any paid elements are included.
Can I share the template link with my team?
Check the license. Many allow sharing with your own business team but not outside it.
