SVG files are vector graphics that cutting machines and laser cutters read to cut shapes from vinyl, iron-on, paper, cardstock, leather, wood and acrylic. Crafters use them for shirts, mugs, decals, signs, cards, layered paper art, ornaments and home decor. On MultiVendor Market designers sell single designs, themed bundles, layered SVGs, split monograms, quotes and seasonal sets.
Most SVG listings also include DXF (for some cutting software and laser workflows), PNG (for printable sublimation and print-then-cut) and EPS. Good cut files are welded, with no stray points or overlapping paths, and layered designs are color-separated for easy cutting.
Check compatibility with your cutting machine's software, whether the design is single-layer or layered, and the commercial license — many crafters sell finished products and need to know how many items they can make.
Buying SVG cut files
- Check that formats include what your machine software needs — SVG, DXF, PNG.
- Look for clean, welded designs without stray nodes or overlapping paths.
- Choose single-layer for simple vinyl and layered SVGs for multi-color or paper art.
- Read the commercial license if you'll sell finished items, including any quantity limits.
- Check the preview for line thickness — very thin lines can be hard to weed.
Questions about svg files
Will SVG files work with my cutting machine?
Most cutting machine apps import SVG. Some free software versions prefer DXF, which many sellers include.
Can I sell shirts or decals made with an SVG?
If the license allows commercial use of finished physical products, yes. Selling the digital file itself is not allowed. Check the terms.
What is a layered SVG?
A design split into separate colors or pieces that you cut individually and stack, used for multi-color vinyl or layered paper art.
