Procreate brushes are custom tools for the iPad drawing app, shared as .brush or .brushset files. Artists sell inking and sketching brushes, watercolor and gouache painting brushes, texture and grain brushes, lettering and calligraphy brushes, stamp brushes for flowers, characters or patterns, and seamless pattern brushes. Color palettes (.swatches) and canvas templates are often included.
Brushes import by tapping the file on the iPad. Check the Procreate version required — newer brush features may not work in older versions — and whether the set includes a guide or practice sheets.
Licenses usually let you use brushes to create artwork you can sell, but not to resell or share the brushes themselves. Stamp brushes may have extra limits on commercial use of the stamp designs.
Buying Procreate brushes
- Check file types — .brushset for sets, .brush for singles, .swatches for palettes.
- Confirm the Procreate version required for newer features.
- Look at stroke previews and artwork made with the brushes.
- Read the license: art you create is usually yours to sell; brushes can't be shared.
- Check for stamp-specific commercial limits.
