Leadership roundtables are small-group conversations among people in similar roles. A facilitator sets a theme — leading through change, building a leadership team, managing remote teams, succession, board relationships — and participants share experiences, challenges and approaches. The value comes from candid peer exchange, so groups are deliberately small and conversations are usually expected to stay within the room.
Roundtables suit senior leaders who have fewer peers inside their own organization, new managers stepping into leadership, founders and nonprofit directors. Some are one-off sessions; others meet regularly with the same group.
Look at who the roundtable is for, how the facilitator handles confidentiality, and how many participants there are. Come prepared to contribute — a roundtable works only if everyone participates.
Choosing a leadership roundtable
- Check that participants will be at a similar level and context to you.
- Ask how confidentiality is handled during and after the session.
- Look at group size — smaller groups allow deeper conversation.
- Come with one real challenge you're willing to discuss.
- Consider whether you want a one-off session or a regular group.

Can I join a roundtable online?
Yes, many run online. The facilitator's meeting link is sent to registered participants.
