Sell with us →About instrumentals
Instrumentals cover a broader range than beats: full band backing tracks for singers, piano accompaniments for auditions and recitals, orchestral pieces, acoustic guitar tracks, jazz trios and worship arrangements. Buyers include vocalists, performers, choirs, worship teams, dance studios and students practicing an instrument.
Performance tracks often come in several keys or with click tracks and cues for live use, and some sellers offer versions with and without a guide vocal or a particular instrument muted, so musicians can play along.
Copyright matters here. Original compositions are the seller's to license, while backing tracks of existing songs involve the song's composition rights even if the recording is new. Check what the seller states about the composition and how you're allowed to use the track — practice, live performance or recording.
Choosing instrumentals and backing tracks
- Check the key and tempo, and whether alternate keys are offered for your vocal range.
- Look for versions with click tracks or cues if you'll perform live.
- Confirm whether the track is an original composition or a version of an existing song.
- Read the license for performance and recording rights, not just personal practice.
- Download WAV for live sound systems and recording; MP3 is fine for practice.
Questions about instrumentals
Can I perform live with a purchased backing track?
Many licenses allow live performance, but rules for public performance can depend on your venue and country. Check the license and ask the seller.
Can I get the track in a different key?
Some sellers include several keys or offer them as options. Message the seller if your key isn't listed.
Can I record and release a song over an instrumental?
Only if the license grants recording and distribution rights. For versions of existing songs, composition rights apply separately.
