Special interest gatherings bring together people who care about the same niche thing. That could be a vintage camera swap meet, a board game night, a retro computing evening, a fan gathering for a book series, a birdwatching walk, a sneaker collectors' meetup, a model railway open day or an online show-and-tell for mechanical keyboard builders.
These events tend to be informal and enthusiastic. Some center on an activity — playing, building, trading, spotting — while others are social evenings where the shared interest gives everyone something to talk about. Organizers on MultiVendor Market explain what happens, what to bring and whether newcomers are welcome.
In-person gatherings list the venue; online gatherings use the host's own video tool, with the link emailed only to registered attendees. For trading or swap events, check what the organizer allows and how exchanges work.
Gatherings like these suit newcomers who want to learn from experienced enthusiasts and longtime fans who want to meet their people face to face.
Picking a special interest gathering
- Check the experience level the event is aimed at — newcomer friendly or deep-cut enthusiasts.
- Read what to bring: games, kit to show, items to trade or nothing at all.
- For in-person events, check the venue's location, access and any age restrictions.
- Ask the organizer about house rules for trading, photography or handling other people's items.
- If it is online, confirm the time zone and whether you will need to share your screen or camera.

Can I trade or sell items at a gathering?
That depends on the organizer and the venue. Check the listing or ask the host before bringing items to swap or sell.
